In the week of the 30th of March the Devon and Cornwall Conservative Future Action Team were mobilised in support of the Truro and Falmouth PPC, Sarah Newton. Young members came from as far as Exeter and Plymouth, as well as local towns such as Truro and Looe, to participate in the latest opportunity for the youth of Devon and Cornwall to get involved in politics in the South West.

Over the course of the week the group canvassed Falmouth, the first time the town had been covered in several years, registering where Conservative support lay in the area. The response we had was unanimous in the welcoming of the young engaging in political activity. The Wednesday hit a peak with a turnout of fifteen volunteers. The group gave its support to Sarah’s campaign to improve parking conditions in Penryn by doing a mass survey drop across the town. Whilst the members were canvassing, the opportunity was taken to incorporate a delivery drop of Sarah's newsletter, ‘Coast-to-Coast’.

The week was a great success for all those involved; once again we have seen youth participation in the South West exceed our expectations as more and more young people get involved in local politics.

Having spent the week campaigning, James Morton (Chairman of Devon and Corwnall Conservative Future) commented: "It is absolutly fantastic to see our members continuing to buck the national trend of political decline among the 16 to 30 year old age group. Devon and Cornwall CF continues to be a vibrant asset for the PPCs and Councillors to utilise in the coming months. We have now proven our committment to the candidates and are very much looking forward to hosting a stall and sponsoring three events at the Devon County Show in May."
